Helmet purchase discount at Ottawa retailers May 13 -14, 2017

on Mon, 04/17/2017 - 10:44

For a sixth straight year, Ottawa Public Health has partnered with sports retailers across Ottawa to bring Ottawa residents a discount on helmets.

Helmets prevent serious brain and head injuries by absorbing the force from a fall or hit to the head.

Helmets are recommended for activities like skateboarding, rollerblading, biking, sledding, skating skiing and snowboarding.

In Ontario, it is mandatory for anyone under the age of 18 to wear a certified helmet while riding a bicycle (Highway Traffic Act). Consider a cycling course in your community

Helping seniors, one bike ride at a time & Cycling without Age

on Sat, 09/17/2016 - 01:02

For those who missed it, the Bruyère Continuing Care unveiled a bike rickshaw program for seniors, which are pedalled by volunteers. Some of us at Recyclore have been exploring similar opportunities near Britannia Beach and along the Ottawa River Parkway multi-use pathways. This seems like a great service that would work in the west end. What do you think?

Beautiful, but not always practical

on Wed, 04/13/2016 - 15:58

"Velocopedia is an amusing project by Italian designer Gianluca Gimini. For three years, Gimini has been asking his friends to draw bicycles, which he then renders in 3D. The result is a pretty hilarious reproduction of some very dysfunctional looking bikes. What Gimini has discovered is that most people simply do not know how to draw a bicycle."

on Sun, 04/03/2016 - 13:43

The 2016 Recyclore AGM was held on Mar 29th. We did alll of the usual stuff like pass past minutes and etc ...be still my beating heart.

From there we did a report on 2015 in review. There are several important parts to that story. One would be the new work stations, tool boards and general shop clean up. A HUGE help in making this happen was The Green Bear Farm who provide us with free storage space, and volunteers Darcy T and Ray B. who did much of the work.

Another part of the story would be the general review which is present in the table below:
